I have been running Windows 7 RC and cannot get it to stop going into sleep mode. I have set the power options so that when plugged in (not on battery power) everything is set to "Never". I leave the computer running when I am doing specific tasks, but this going to sleep when I do not want it to is really screwing with my tasks. What have I missed when adjusting the settings? It is a Gateway MP8708 notebook, 2 GHZ Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Ram.

You and I have exactly the opposite problem. My system will not automatically go the sleep no matter what I setup in the Power options. Sleep works manually just fine. When it attempts to sleep automatically, the display goes to standby at the display sleep time (say 15 idle minutes). However, when the time occurs for the processor/system to go to sleep (say 30 minutes of idle time), the display turns back on, there is a flurry of processor activity (don't know if it is related to the problem), and the system remains in the normal powered up state. System is the release candidate (64 bit), a P35 motherboard, Intel Q9450 processor, with 4G of ram.

Hopefully someone at MS will help with this bug.

I've got a similar but different problem. I installed W7 Build 7100 over the beta and my system now turns off (no warning, no time to save work) unexpectedly and at random times (yesterday early in the day hourly for 2 hours, then not again until once in the afternoon). Very odd. Any suggestions?

I am using windows 7 build 7600 and it goes to sleep automatically. Its getting annoying. Sometimes it goes to sleep after 5 minutes after waking, sometimes after an hour. what is the reason for this.? I have set the never sleep option in the power options.

Had the same problem here. MS, this should be addressed by now. This is happening on two different computers completely autonomous of one another. I believe I have found a solution. Here is what I found. Power settings are set to "High performance" and Sleep is set to "Never" for on battery and plugged in. Next I clicked "Change advanced power settings". Under the "Sleep" options I found that there was a "Hibernate after: 1080 Minutes" which is 18 hours. This was a strange surprise. In the text box you can type in a number or you can type "Never" and apply. This seamed to work. I'll post again if it does not.

This does not work either - my settings are set to never for all sleep and hibernation stuff and it still randomly goes to sleep. There is no pattern or set length of time where it goes to sleep either. Doe anyone have any other suggestions?
